Easy Lentil Chili

Ok, I tried to make lentils. They were not that great. I used the Trader Joe’s kind that you can eat hot or cold. It’s super simple to make but I didn’t like them by themselves. It’s finally turned to Fallish weather so I made chili with them! So easy and I didn’t put them in the slow cooker.

What you need:
1 lb of ground beef
1/2 onion, chopped
Pepper
Chili Seasoning (I only used about 3/4 of the package)
Hot Sauce
Cayenne Pepper
Cajun Seasoning

1/2 a bottle of Pumpkin Beer (I used Cisco, Pumple Drumkin)

Oregano
28 oz of Crushed Tomatoes
2 Garlic Cloves, minced
1 package of Trader Joe’s Lentils

Extra virgin olive oil

1 Tablespoon of butter

Saute the onions, garlic, extra virgin olive oil and butter in a pan. Sprinkle with some pepper, cajun seasoning and cayenne pepper. Remove from pan. Add ground beef to the pan with a splash of the beer. Add hot sauce, I used about three splashes and I’m not sure what that is in teaspoons. Once the meat is cooked through, add some more beer and tomatoes with the chili seasoning. Stir in the lentils.

I didn’t have to add any thickener but I did have about 1/2 a cup of chicken broth in the fridge that I added.

Serve with tortilla chips or biscuits and/or top with sour cream and some shredded cheese!

C’est si yum!
